HISTORY :
This rare grenade was produced during WWII. It was composed of a laminated cardboard body and stamped sheet metal on top and bottom. The troops found this grenade worked very well for destroying enemy equipment.
BODY & FUSE :
The body our MKIII A1 is made of black cardboard (just like the real ones), with resin top and bottom (non removable).
Body is empty.
Fuse is made of cold cast metal, and can NOT be unscrewed from the body for durability purpose. Also, we consider it is not necessary to unscrew fuse from body for reenactment purposes. Solidity first!
Markings are printed on a yellow paper label that includes the type, model, lot #, & date of manufacturing.
SPOON :
Correct spoons are maybe the most complicated part of the grenade to find or make (for a fair price). We have invested in some heavy machinery, and are now able to make them with correct WW2 specs :
- long handle with mechanically stamped long ‘Y’ stiffener
- cups over the top of the fuse head
- metal grey colored, or OD green (optional)
RING & PIN :
Surprisingly, reproduction rings with correct WW2 specs are very hard to find. So here again, we make our own rings. And they look just perfect!
OVERALL WEIGHT :
Our repro MKIII A1 weights around 150g.
